Engineering Manager

The Company:

One of the fastest growing players in the widening DAS (distributed antenna systems) sector, our client is a leading provider of 2G, 3G, 4G & WiFi/WiMAX wireless telecommunication technologies.  As a result of continued and ongoing expansion, the company is presently seeking to appoint a proven ­­­Design Manager to help shape the future direction of the Engineering business unit.

The Position:

The appointed Engineering Manager will assume responsibility for:

• Providing leadership to a team of over ten engineers specialising in the design and optimisation of PMR, TETRA and Cellular 2G, 3G & 4G/LTE networks
• Coordinating design, installation and commissioning with architects, CBIs, CIs and the clients
• Working across the business and engaging with internal members to ensure delivery of first class solutions to programme and budget
• Assuring adherence to safety, quality assurance and technical/project design standards
• Technical project management and overseeing the content of stage plans
• Representing the interests of the client in multi-disciplinary technical meetings
• A good eye for detail alongside a logical and organised approach, the approval process forms an instrumental part of the successful delivery of customer facing documentation.

The Candidate:

Applicants will be required to demonstrate:

• Significant experience in producing a wide variety of quality cellular in-building documentation (Pico cell fed passive & active DAS, cell enhancer fed DAS), Femto/Small Cells)
• Experience in designing a wide variety of cellular in-building solutions
• Ability to recommend and demonstrate to customers the most cost effective solution to meet their technical requirements
• Proficiency with various design software packages: iBwave, Enterprise Planner etc.
• Extensive knowledge/understanding of RF principles and implementation of DAS
• Thorough understanding of relevant technologies – GSM, UMTS, PMR; W-LAN, LTE
• Experience in TETRA, with a basic view of new eLTE systems
• Good Knowledge of NOC’s and Maintenance Supervision Systems
• A proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams of technical professionals
• The ability to deliver high value technology projects, from concept to completion, within defined time, budget and specification constraints
• Design and commissioning experience with RF enhancer technology
• Flexibility in working hours
