Engineering Team Leader

The Company:

Our client who has been established in the 50’s is one of the major providers of electronic test and measurement equipment in more than 100 countries world-wide. They have recently been experiencing some impressive growth and due to this it has now brought about a rare opportunity for a qualified Team Leader within RF, microwave or optical test equipment to join this thriving business.

The Role:

Reporting in to the Operations Director, the main focus of the role will be to manage a team of highly skilled Engineers/technicians, with an objective to achieving measured targets in performance.

Your duties will be as follows:

• Managing and motivating the engineering team
• Monitoring performance to ensure targets are achieved
• Ensuring that the highest possible levels of quality are maintained within the team
• Generate training and development plans for engineers
• Staff selection and interviewing
• Prioritise/allocate engineers workload and customer responses
• Ensure that tools and plant equipment is satisfactorily maintained and calibrated
• Ensure the work area is always customer presentable
• Ensure calibration and/or performance verification procedures are used and generated where required including the correct identification of Plant equipment
• Appraise and set objectives for engineers
• Provide customer technical support
• Develop and maintain procedures, flowcharts and work instructions
• Ensure health & safety standards are maintained
• Ensure the skills and training matrix are maintained and regularly updated

Candidate’s Profile:

• Essential
  • HNC, Degree or City & Guilds in Electronics
  • 3 years minimum experience in the RF, microwave, telecommunications and/or optical field of test equipment
  • A broad knowledge of a wide range of general purpose test equipment
  • Professional attitude and good leadership skills
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to work under pressure within limited timescales
  • Ability to work within and control a team
  • Customer service orientated
  • Initiative and drive
  • Driving Licence
• Desired
  • Experience acquired with a manufacturer of Test equipment; or
  • Calibration House; or
  • Armed Services
