Design Manager

The Company:

One of the fastest growing players in the widening DAS (distributed antenna systems) sector, our client is a leading provider of 2G, 3G, 4G & WiFi/WiMAX wireless telecommunication technologies.  As a result of continued and ongoing expansion, the company is presently seeking to appoint a proven ­­­Design Manager to help shape the future direction of the Engineering business unit.

The Position:

The appointed Design Manager will assume responsibility for:

• Providing technical and operational leadership to a team of over ten engineers specialising in the design and optimisation of PMR, TETRA and Cellular 2G, 3G & 4G/LTE networks
• Coordinating design, installation and commissioning with architects, CBIs, CIs and the clients
• Assuring adherence to safety, quality assurance and technical/project design standards
• Technical project management and overseeing the content of stage plans
• Representing the interests of the client in multi-disciplinary technical meetings
• Carrying out the hardware and software procurement, managing supplier relationships and FATs accordingly
• Directing all internal and user-acceptance testing activities

The Candidate:

Applicants will be required to demonstrate:

• A Minimum of ten years’ in-building design experience on both single and large multi-operator sites (such as stadia and retail parks) using RF tools and Nokia, Ericsson and/or Huawei base stations
• A proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams of technical professionals
• The ability to deliver high value technology projects, from concept to completion, within defined time, budget and specification constraints
• A thorough working knowledge of active RF-over-fibre systems
• Design and commissioning experience with RF enhancer technology
